For the past couple of years I’ve had issues keeping my skin clear. I don’t mind having a few blemishes on my face at all but it has gotten to the point where 2-3 times a year I get huge cystic pimples on my nose. Yikes! I went from having great skin to not-so-great skin in a very short period of time. What’s even worse is that the worse my skin is, the more make up I wear, which means the press on my face would clog up even more!
When I was younger I would watch beauty vloggers on YouTube religiously and you would constantly hear them rave about the Clarisonic. So a few years ago I decided to save up the money and go purchase one. I went to Macy’s and purchased the Clarisonic Mia 2 with this cute pink polka dot design. I was really excited to start using it until I went to the dermatologist about the cystic pimples I get on my nose and she told me she didn’t recommend using the Clarisonic. I was pretty upset. I debated on bringing it back to the store but ultimately decided to keep it and I’m glad I did! I was only able to use it for about a week after first purchasing it before I stopped. I’ve decided that I’m going to start using this baby again and I am hoping it helps clear up my skin.
What’s Included?
Unfortunately I no longer have the box that the Clarisonic came in to show you what was included but my Mia 2 came with the charger, a brush protector and a 30ml tube of refreshing gel cleanser (which I didn’t love). I have extremely sensitive skin and the cleanser that came with my Mia 2 seemed to dry my skin out completely and cause irritation. My aunt is a Mary Kay representative and sent me a handful of face products to try out so I’ll be using those with my Mia 2. If you’re interested in buying any of the Mary Kay facial products check her Mary Kay page out here! Clarisonic recommends to change your brush head every three months. You can buy the Clarisonic replacements from Sephora, Macy’s, JCPenny, etc. but I have been buying the Sonimart Compatible Replacement Cleansing Brush Heads from Amazon!
My Everyday Skincare Routine
As of right now, I am using my Mia 2 once daily at night after taking my makeup off or showering. I tend to use the lower setting because my skin is more on the sensitive side. I splash my face with water and then either rub my cleansing gel/face scrub on my face or apply it to the middle of the brush. Mia 2 has a built in timer that lets you know when you should move on to the next part of your face. Once finished, the device turns itself off. I wash off the cleanser with warm water and then wash the brush of my Mia 2.
Conclusion
I think that the Clarisonic is a great buy for a wide variety of skin types. Depending on which one you grab they tend to get a bit pricey but are ultimately worth it in the long run. I’ll do a follow up post in the near future to show how the Clarisonic has affected my skin.
